New Teaser Trailer for ‘Cosmopolis’: Robert Pattinson, Sex & Guns

Today, the net received the long awaited teaser trailer for Cosmopolis and boy is it steamy! But when you’ve got director David Cronenberg (A Dangerous Method) in the helm, what more should you expect? The director, known more for pushing the envelope and his unique style, will no doubt push the buttons with Cosmopolis.

Cosmopolis, based on Don DeLillo’s novel of the same title, tells the story of a very wealthy asset manager, Eric Packer (Robert Pattinson), who travels for 24 hours for a haircut. Along the way he runs into some pretty interesting things: a celebrity funeral and a presidential motorcade. However, the stakes are raised when forced to deal with the repercussions of a bet against the yen, which he placed on a bad day for the market; in result, his wife and all of his money are on the line.

The trailer is probably one of the best teasers I’ve seen in a while. In fact, I’d say, due to the editing, that it’s even better than most full length trailers, and the damn thing wasn’t even over 45 seconds long, not to mention all the text in the beginning. Despite everything, the trailer gives its audiences just enough to want more. There’s sex, guns, strobe lights, dinosaurs and blood. If fact I’m even interested in the novel.

Warning for all Pattinson haters: This isn’t the same guy from Twilight. In general, and I know I’ve said this before, but when it comes to the acting in the Twilight Saga, I refuse to judge their acting techniques from those horrible films and its even weaker characters. Pattinson’s portrayal of Eric, judging from the teaser alone, is a whole ‘nother monster — Eric is twisted, dark and loopy, which should give Pattinson something to sink his teeth into .

Directed by David Cronenberg and starring Robert Pattinson, Sarah Gadon, Samantha Morton, Jay Baruchel and Kevind Durand Cosmopolis hits theaters in France May 23rd and in Portugal on May 31st. No word on when it’s coming to the US.
