From the brilliant mind of Martin Scorsese, the film industry has been introduced to characters like Jake La Motta, Henry Hill, Travis Bickle and Billy Costigan. The man is a pure genius in the ideals of filmmaking, which is continuously revealed throughout his works. Scorsese has won 103 awards thus far in his incredibly successful career, 20 of those awards being Oscars. Recently, Scorsese has taken a liking to one actor in particular and he goes by the name of Leonardo DiCaprio. The talented actor has been featured in four of Scorsese’s films in the last decade (Gangs of New York (2002), The Aviator (2004), The Departed (2006), and Shutter Island (2010).
Hoping to continue their successful box office streak, the two will collaborate yet again in 2013 with the making of the novel based film, The Wolf of Wall Street. The movie tells the story of Jordan Belfort, who served twenty months in prison for refusing to cooperate in a massive 1990s securities fraud case that involved widespread corruption on Wall Street and in the corporate banking world, including mob infiltration. Leonardo DiCaprio will play the protagonist, Jordan Belfort, an actual Wall Street maven who was brought down by his hard-partying lifestyle ultimately leading to his drug and alcohol addictions. This Scorsese drama is based on the autobiography by Jordan Belfort which has become a Wall Street Journal Best Seller. The film will also feature the creative Terence Winter as the screenwriter. Many people know of Winter for his work in recent television hits The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire.
The Wolf of Wall Street is set to be released sometime in 2013. Dating the track record of Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, I would definitely say that this film will be another great piece from the talented director. Although it won’t hit theaters until sometime next year, make sure to keep watch for this film. The Scorsese and DiCaprio duo is a formula made for success.
