Orange Mocha Frappucchinos!: Zoolander gets a Sequel!

In his recent appearance on Saturday Night Live, Ben Stiller reprised his role as the great Derek Zoolander. The appearance of the epic character comes along with a bunch of buzz about a Zoolander sequel being in the works. The news that Derek and Hansel will soon be gracing the big screen with their really ridiculously good looking prescence is definitely exciting for me. Zoolander is one of the few comedies that I return to again and again. Me and my friends can quote it virtually word for word. In fact I still use many of the famous phrases in every day life.

So when Owen Wilson starts talking about plot details for what could be affectionately titled “Twolander” or “Zoo 2″, I certainly start paying attention. Apparently the sequel is set 10 years in the future, a long time after Hansel was “so hot right now”. According to Wilson “Hansel, he’s fallen on hard times. There’s been a disfiguring injury. Think Vanilla Sky.” That has me a little worried. It may seem insensitive but ever since me and my friends saw Owen Wilson in the horror movie re-make The Haunting, we’ve affectionately referred to him as “screwed up nose boy”. So how much more disfiguring are we going to get here?

Ben Stiller also mentioned that the script includes Will Ferrell’s character of Mugatu. Ferrell has mentioned that he is interested in continuing his role as the mastermind fashion designer. He did invent the piano key necktie after all, so he is obviously an important part of the story. The cast will be filming some scenes overseas with most of the script, penned by Stiller and Justin Theroux, set in Europe. According to Stiller, “the studio has the script” and “we’re at that point where we’re waiting to see what they want to do.” I know that me, and every other fan of the Magnum faced professionally good-looking man, are impatiently waiting for the sequel to begin filming. So, earth to studio- get a move on.

Here’s the clip of Derek Zoolander on Saturday Night Live, his part starts at around 2:45 if you want to skip the rest of the weekend update:

How do you feel about the sequel? Will it be a center for ants or at least 3 times bigger than that?
