Meet the Cast of ‘The Hunger Games’!

It’s been a while since we’ve heard any news from the cast of The Hunger Games. After what seemed to be a quiet spell for the film, Vanity Fair posted an interactive picture of several tributes. It’s a picture of not all but only some of the tributes ( basically those that get the most time in Suzanne Collin’s novel): Clove, Foxface, Glimmer, Cato,Rue, Peta and Katniss, and even Katniss’s hometown friend, Gale.

The cast all look great. I’m still not convinced that Jennifer Lawrence should’ve been cast as Katniss, but at the time she was on everyone’s mind, after being nominated at the Oscars for Winter Bone and playing Mystique in X-men: First Class. One other thing, Josh Hutcherson looks nothing like Peta. No offense to the guy, but he looks the youngest out of the entire cast. While reading the book, I pictured someone completely different.

From looking at this picture, this could be proof that Alexander Ludwig is indeed big and tall enough to play the menacing and ruthless Cato of District 2. The 19 year old actor has grown up quite a bit since his days in The Seeker and Race to Witch Mountain. It’s only been 3 years since those two films and now he’s even taller than Liam Hemsworth (Gale).

In the new issue of Vanity Fair, Gary Ross talks about the pressures he felt as a director to bring the film to life:

“My kids turned me on to it, and I went nuts,” says writer-director Gary Ross (Seabiscuit). “You rarely get a tentpole that has this much emotional depth, this much character to dive into… My responsibility was to [author Suzanne Collins] and the readers, to give them the same experience they had when they read the book. I was just so lucky that I had the cast I had.”

Question: What do you guy think about the cast? Are you satisfied?

The Hunger Games hits theaters March 23rd.
