The franchise that started it all for Marvel Entertainment is currently experiencing one of the largest promotional efforts for a superhero film. It’s expected that Iron Man 3 will be one of Marvel’s biggest films to date, but how big? How much will the extravaganza gross at the box office? Well, it’s too early to guess just yet, but hopefully the new footage and poster can give us some type of hint.
Forget just releasing the teaser trailer randomly, Marvel Entertainment’s promotional team is going all out for Iron Man 3. They know exactly how to get the fan boys and girls going.Within a period of 24 hours, we’ve received one new poster and two new teasers to the full length teaser trailer, which will premiere Tuesday 12:01 a.m. PST. EST viewers, looks like we received the short end of the stick this time around.
Tony Stark is Back!
The first teaser to the trailer didn’t come without a price. Yesterday, the promotion team launched a viral game on Facebook to ”recharge Tony Stark’s arc reactor”, which allowed fans to unlock a sneak peak of Tuesday’s trailer.
The first teaser to the trailer gives us a look at the new Iron Man armor (which looks fantastic!), Ben Kingsley as our main villain, Mandarin, and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) in peril. In the second teaser which is just 10 seconds, we get a glimpse at Guy Pearce as villain Aldrich Killian and Don Cheadle‘s return as James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes, better known as War Machine.

There’s a lot of questions being raised on the superhero message boards this afternoon. Most center around Pepper Potts. It’s really the first time we’ve seen her in any type of trouble. Hats off to Marvel for not giving us the obvious “Woman in Distress” plot line so soon in the franchise. We’ve come to really enjoy and appreciate Pepper Potts over the years, so her distress should make for some great action and will hopefully bring out a side of Tony Stark we’ve yet to see.
We’ll leave all the analyzing to our Marvel Superhero expert, Stephen Branson, when the trailer premieres later tonight.
