‘Host’ Actress Saoirse Ronan Tests Cinderella’s Glass Slipper

At just 18 years old, Saoirse Ronan already boasts an impressive resume. Moviegoers worldwide first noticed Ronan when she starred in 2007′s Atonement alongside Hollywood’s dynamic actors James McAvoy and Keira Knightly. And just two years later she’d carry her first film, The Lovely Bones, as character Susie Salmon. She then returned to lead yet another film as the titular young killer in Hanna.

What’s Ronan up to now? When she’s not busy saving the world as Melanie Stryder in the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s The Host (due out summer 2013), she’s trying on glass slippers. That’s right, over the past several days Ronan’s been busy in test screenings for Mark Romanek and Disney’s live action reboot of Cinderella. Only thing is, she’s not the only one with her eye on the glass slipper…

One Role, Three Actresses

For the role Ronan will have to beat out both Swedish star Alicia Vikander and British actress Gabriella Wilde. Sure, Ronan’s filmography may be the most impressive by a long shot, but each actress has their own appeal.

Vikander has only three feature films under her belt, but her last two films, Anna Karenina and A Royal Affair fall in the period drama genre, the same playing field as Cinderella. She has an edge up on both Wilde and Ronan as neither has yet to star in the genre.

Out of the three, Wilde has the shortest resume, but the titles are heavy hitters: The Three Musketeers and Carrie (2013). She also has a background in modeling as she’s been featured in both Vogue and InStyle.

If Romanek and Disney want a fresh face, then they’ll go with Wilde. If they’re looking for someone with more experience in period dramas, they’ll shoot for Vikander. If they’re looking to bank on Ronan’s growing popularity, especially after The Host hits theaters, they’ll cast Ronan. Who will join Cate Blanchett (Lady Tremaine aka The Evil Stepmother), in the new Cinderella?

What Are Your Thoughts?

Out of the three, who would you like to see sitting next to Prince Charming in the pumpkin carriage? Have another actress in mind? Let us know about it the comments below.

A release date for Cinderella has yet to  be announced.
