Michael Bay is shifting the promotion for Transformers: Dark of the Moon to full throttle. Today he and Paramount released three new character posters for the “Nascar bots”. “Nascar bots” aren’t their official name; they go under the unit name “Wreckers”.. you know because they wreck a lot of shit!
According to Filmofila, the Wreckers are a sub-team of Autobots that function as a commando unit. They were not derived from the famous toyline, but instead UK Marvel writer Simon Furman introduced the Wreckers to the Transformers world in 2006. The Wreckers are composed of Leadfoot, Topspin, and Roadbuster. Interesting stuff, huh?
Earlier in the year I posted several photos of the new bots on the set. These character posters are the first of the Wreckers in full bot-form, and they look pretty sweet to me! The colors really make them stand out from the rest of the bots. Not being able to distinguish between different bots is a complaint many fans of the franchise have expressed before. Be sure to also check out the new TV spot posted below.
The Autobots Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009′s Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There’s new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime Transformers character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon, starring Shia LaBeouf, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Patrick Dempsey, and Kevin Dunn slams into theaters June 29th, 2011.
