Will Tom Cruise Join Beyonce In Clint Eastwood’s ‘A Star Is Born’? | Reel Movie Nation

Clint Eastwood, Beyonce Knowles and possibly Tom Cruise… yeah Eastwood’s next film, A Star Is Born, is that big. Then again, did anyone expect anything less of Eastwood? Whether completing a project or starting a new one, the man goes for gold.

Dont’ too excited, Tom Cruise’s name is one of many connected with the leading male role. Other names that were rumored or in talks include Will Smith, Robert Downey Jr., Christian Bale, Eminem and Russell Crowe. In all honesty, any of those names would get me and many more in the theater. The fact that A Star Is Born is a Clint Eastwood film starring Beyonce Knowles is enough for many people.

A Star Is Born is a remake of the 1954 film of the same title, starring Judy Garland, James Mayson and Jack Carson. The film follows the story of two lovers, both performers; however, one’s career is on the rise (Beyonce’s) and the other’s career is slowly falling to the wayside.

The film has seen its fair share of delays and has been in the making for several years. Beyonce’s pregnancy forced the R&B diva to pause the production, but she’ll be back in full force in June. Depending on Eastwood’s determination to have Cruise, A Star Is Born may see another delay due to Cruise’s busy filming schedule. Currently he’s starring in director Joseph Kosinski’s Oblivion. He will then move into production for director Doug Liman’s All You Need Is Kill. Let’s not forget with the astronomical success of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Paramount is moving along with Mission: Impossible 5, possibly pushing Eastwood’s production back at least 1 possible 2 years.

However, patience always pays off. Tom Cruise is the box office king. Within the past 10 years, any film with his name attached has grossed more than $200 million worldwide. There’s a price tag with that name. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol… headed towards $700 million worldwide and War of the Worlds grossed $588 million worldwide. Knight and Day ,also starring Cameron Diaz, and Valkyrie almost stumped him; Knight and Day only grossed $258 million worldwide and Valkyrie grossed $200.3 million world wide.

If Cruise takes the role there’s no doubt that he’ll at least receive an Oscar nomination along side Beyonce. For you Cruise fans out there, you can catch him and many more stars rocking out in this summer’s Rock of Ages, which hits theaters June 1, 2012.
