boy, oh boy! Last night Sony Entertainment released the much anticipated 4 minute preview for Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man. It’s understandable if you were a little skeptical about the film prior to this preview — it has the smell of a reboot looking to make money, The Lizard isn’t the most intimidating villain, Spider-Man’s suit is all wrong, what the hell are those shooters… we’ve heard it all — but after watching it, if you’re not somewhat intrigued, you’re just a hater… not really, but still, the preview is pretty damn amazing, you have to give it that.
There’s a crazy amount of action, great visuals, stellar camera work and stunning CGI. The film aims to sell itself by promoting Spider-Man’s untold story — that is, the story of his parents, a point Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films only touched upon briefly. We still haven’t seen The Lizard in all his full glory, but I think that’s part the magic, the mystery. We catch a glimpse of just how enormous he is in the shot where Gwen Stacy is hiding from him, but that’s about it. For those of you who missed it, or if you must watch it for the 17th time, check out the 4-minute preview below. Side note: Is it just me or is there a bridge scene in nearly every superhero film?
