Don’t they ever learn? You don’t mess with Liam Neeson! The man has battled his daughter’s kidnappers, taped glass bottles to his knuckles and went to war with the Alpha male of a wolf pack, and not to mention he even has the power to release the Kraken. If I were ever in fight I know who’d I’d want on my team, otherwise I’m screwed. Today 20th Century Fox released the first international trailer for Taken 2. Liam Neeson is back in business.
Nearly four years ago there was this film titled Taken. Despite the story’s high adrenaline action and carefully detailed plot, the flick became the sleeper hit of the year. Its DVD released garnered the most success for the Pierre Morel directed film. People everywhere had received word of it and wondered how the hell they missed the film in theaters. Well this time around expect those same people to be first in line come October 5th.
Neeson Doing What He Does Best
Taken 2 tells the story of the now retired CIA operative Bryan Mills (Neeson) who decides to spend some much needed time overseas in Instanbul with his ex-wife, played by Famke Janssen (X-men 1-3), and his daughter, played by Maggie Grace (Lost). Little does he know his past comes to haunt him as the family members and friends come to avenge the men Mills killed in Taken. Murrad (Rade Sherbedzija), the father of one of the now deceased Albanian kidnappers, will lead the band. In Taken Mills had to fight for his daughter’s life, but this time around he’ll have to save his entire family.
The trailer looks pretty impressive. The story utilizes the old formula of revenge, which seems to work 90% of the time. Give a man something he’s passionate about and he’ll give it his all. For whatever reason Pierre Morel did not return to direct Taken 2. This time around the job went to Colombiana director Olivier Megaton. The man’s an expert at abduction movies, but he pissed off a lot of fans with Transporter 3. Needless to say, we all have our hiccups, hopefully Megaton can deliver the goods in Taken 2, which judging by the trailer he does just that. His next project is the film adaptation of the popular Sean French novel Land of the Living.
Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think. Hate or love it? Will you see this one in theaters? Directed by Oliver Megaton, Taken 2 stars Liam Neeson, Famke Janssen, Maggie Grace, Leland Osser and Rade Sherbedzija. This film hits theaters October 5th, 2012.
