Original RoboCop – Peter Weller – Joins ‘Star Trek 2′!

Well, things can only get better from here. The original RoboCop, Peter Weller, has officially joined the cast of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek 2. Look’s like Weller’s not done yet, he’s putting a stamp of approval on his sci-fi career.

Although most famously known for RoboCop, a role he originated, he’s also starred in ScreamersNaked Lunch and The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai. But most recently, Weller’s made appearances on Dexter and 24. Let’s also mention that he’s taken a role behind the camera as director of several episodes of Monk and Sons Of Anarchy.

The bigger question is who exactly will Weller play? According to Deadline, nothing’s been released on that front; however, rumors are spreading that he could very well play a villain, not a shocker there. Maybe Khan? But with hardly any information to go on,  it’s difficult to make assumptions.

Trekkies, get ready because within the next several months a slew of information will be released and I can only imagine that it’ll knock the trekkie socks off many of you. Thank goodness for J.J. Abrams and his production team.

Star Trek 2, starring Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg and John Cho hits theaters May 17th, 2013.
