The Muppets are here! In fact “they’re closer than you think”! I just love that line. Very nice job by the marketing department over at Disney, but then again they are always flawless. Today Disney released the first official poster for The Muppets. While a lot of us—those born before 1995—will be one of the first in line on opening night, Disney will have to market these beloved puppets to a newer generation—a generation who gets their fuel and excitement from explosions, fast cars, and flashy objects. It’ll be interesting to see how The Muppets have changed with the time.
Directed by James Bobin, The Muppets hits theaters November 23rd, 2011.
This film stars Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Zach Galifianakis, Amy Adams, Selena Gomez, Niel Patrick Harrison, Jason Segel, Jack Black, Danny Trejo, Ed Helms, and Chris Cooper.
Official Synopsis:
On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10-million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit the Frog reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.
