New ‘Carrie’ Images: Chloe Moretz Doused in Pig’s Blood!

Heads up, Carrie fans! New images from Kimberly Peirce’s remake have been made public. If you want to see the first picture and learn some production info, check out my earlier article here.

Remaking the Stephen King Classic

In short, Carrie is the story of a misfit girl who is teased horribly. She discovers that if she channels her negative emotions, she actually has telekinetic powers — the ability to move objects with her mind. Add an overly-religious weirdo mother to the mix and you’ve got a dangerous combination.

The first picture showed Carrie wearing super-conservative clothes. I’m now happy to present you with something much, much bloodier:

Pretty gruesome, right? That’s Carrie, played by Chloe Moretz. All dressed up in her pretty prom dress and covered in pig’s blood. Yes, Carrie’s prom was a night to remember, but not in the good way. Moretz seems to pull off the scene’s rage, disgust, and humiliation brilliantly. Actually, I kind of want a picture of her in that dress not covered in the blood. In the Stephen King book, Carrie sews the dress herself, and it’s beautiful.

Julianne Moore as Carrie’s Mother

An equally creepy character is Carrie’s mother, Margaret, played by Julianne Moore. While Carrie is the obvious monster, her mom certainly plays a big and not-so-subtle part in the horror fest. Carrie had the potential to be a perfectly normal, cheerful girl, but it was her mom who made her wear strange clothes, never taught her about growing up and was psychologically (and sometimes physically) abusive. Here’s Margaret White looking very, uh, mothering:

This is why I like Stephen King. Even if you get over the shock and horror of the main freak show, you’ve got an equally disturbing character lurking in the background. I have a feeling I’ll be sleeping with the lights on after this hits theaters.

Carrie is directed by Kimberly Peirce and based on the book by Stephen King. It has a scheduled release date of March 15, 2013.
