“You Should Be As Afraid of Him As I Am”
After keeping it all to themselves for nearly a month, MTV, via Warner Bros., has finally decided to share the glorious footage from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises which premiered June 3rd, 2012, at the MTV Movie Awards. We covered the action-packed footage when it hit TV sets nationwide, but MTV and the studio were persistent in removing any trace found online; the footage wasn’t even released on MTV’s website for fans to view. That’s no way to share, guys!
The MTV preview gives way to an intense conversation between John Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway). I won’t go into to much detail here, but upon viewing the footage, a whole month later, after several previously released TV spots and features, it’s interesting to look back and see this side of Selina; while she’s quite cold towards Blake, she emotes fear and concern for Gotham’s future. She’s been the front woman for most of the trailers, as she appears to be the only link between Bane and Bruce, while the rest of the world waits for his return. “You Don’t Know A Thing About Me…”
Warner Bros. and Nolan also released yet another TV spot for the last chapter in the Nolan-Batman franchise. Most of the TV spots released thus far haven’t featured any new footage; they’re merely re-edited shots from previous trailers and features. The newly-released spot for The Dark Knight Rises displays the chemistry between Batman and Catwoman as they learn to trust each other in order save the people of Gotham from Bane’s relentless terror.
Out of all the TV spots this one shows Catwoman at her finest — kicking ass with her blade-lined heels. She’s certainly a force to be reckoned with and Batman knows this. The spot includes a shot where the masked crusader asks Catwoman if she’d join him in the fight against Bane and his men, to which she gladly complies. Doesn’t take much to entice this master thief. The first photo from the film featured Catwoman on one of Batman’s prized mobiles, which led many to question just how did she get hold of the batpod. Contrary to what many may have come to assume, she didn’t steal it from Bruce’s layer; instead he gives it to her. The batpod comes with several new additions, which Selina handles like a pro.
