Jessie J… when it comes to her voice, the woman knows what she’s doing. With a style to call her own, a powerhouse yet soulful voice, and her classic bob with bangs, she commanded attention when she hit the music scene back in 2011 with her debut album “Who You Are.” It’s been a year and some months since her album hit shelves, and in that time she’s become the first British female artist to have six Top 10 singles on one album. Now, she’ll lend her voice to her first soundtrack.
Silver Linings Playbook has already grabbed the attention of many. With a cast that includes Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, and Robert De Niro, this dark comedy could throw the award season for quite a surprise if it lives up to the hype. The story brings together two unlikely characters who reach out to one another as each mourn for the loss of their significant other.
Jessie J Teams Up with Song Writer Diane Warren
Jessie J hit the studio to record “Crazy About You” which was penned by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Diane Warren. Warren’s previous work garnered her six Academy Award nominations, two including “Music of the Heart” (Gloria Estefan & ‘N Sync) from the film by the same title, and Aerosmith’s “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” from Armageddon. Teaming the two together could produce several nominations this coming award season.
“Crazy About You” is a head-bopping ballad with lyrics that are dead on with what the characters will experience in the film. Jessie J’s voice adds a bit of hope and inspiration to the track that otherwise would be lost. The UK artist loves to riff and she’s great at it, but at times it can be a bit heavy. Though she does riff a bit in “Crazy About You” it never takes away from Warren’s beautiful lyrics. This is one soundtrack and film I’m looking forward to.
