Get Ready… Disney Will Re-release ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘Beauty & the Beast’ & More in 3D!

“Be.. our… guest! Be our guest!” Disney prepares for total box office domination as they invite more Disney fans to theaters worldwide. Thanks to Disney’s re-release of “The Lion King” in 3D (and the natural cash cow that it is), other Disney favorites will receive the same treatment as the King. Why leave these films in the volt box when Disney could re-release them and increase their all time gross? It’s deliciously ludicrous!

Disney has proven that people want these films back in the theaters. The numbers speak for themselves. Since The Lion King’s re-release the film stayed #1 at the box office for 2 weeks straight. This increase in sales knocked Spider-Man from of the tenth spot for all time domestic gross.

Four Disney films will be re-released in 3D in 2012 and 2013: Finding Nemo, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Monsters Inc. Each of these films received critical and financial success upon their 2D releases. Finding Nemo is among the highest grossing films of all time pulling in an astonishing $867.8 million worldwide.

Here’s the Re-release Date of Each Film: 

1. Beauty & the Beast – January 13th, 2012
2. Finding Nemo – September 4th, 2012
3. Monsters Inc. – January 18th, 2013
4. The Little Mermaid – September 13th, 2013

Sure, the re-releases are only a way for Disney to make more money, however, I can assure you there are a lot of people who will enjoy these films in 3D. Many feel quite OK with spending 12-15 dollars a ticket for a childhood memory.

Was ‘The Lion King” worth seeing in 3D? Not really? But it was worth seeing on the big screen again with close friends. Sitting in a dark theater with others who sang along to all the tunes was priceless. The cried when I cried. They laughed when I laughed, and it was one hell of a time.
