As July 20th quickly approaches, Nolan and the team are giving the last stretch of promotion everything they’ve got… not that we need it. If the promo team decided to stop all advertising efforts tomorrow, the film would still make bank, but we’re all thankful that won’t happen anytime soon! Nothing gets fans more pumped than a some new footage and TV spots.
First thing’s first, the track list for The Dark Knight Rises has just been released thanks to JWFan.com. The legendary Hans Zimmer has once again returned to give the Dark Knight the sound it deserves. Expect Zimmer to carry over several key musical themes from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight into this soundtrack while also giving us something new and fresh.
James Newton Howard Exits the Party of Three
For those of you wondering where James Newton Howard comes into play… well he doesn’t. Both Howard and Zimmer have shared ideas, collaborating and throwing melodies and tunes off one another for the creation of Nolan’s unique and distinct Dark Knight sound. Unfortunately, Zimmer will fly solo this time around. Howard announced his departure from the franchise after playing “The Harvey Dent Suite” with an orchestra at a concert in Dallas, TX. He revealed that it was his decision to leave the team, and that no hard feelings were shared. The award-winning director felt that Zimmer and Nolan “had established such good chemistry working on Inception, and he didn’t want to be a third wheel.” It’s disappointing, but understandable.
The Cover Art & Track List
Surprisingly, the track list leaves a lot to the imagination. It’s common for many soundtrack lists to reveal the skeleton of the story, but not here. Zimmer cleverly gives the songs spoiler-free titles. The cover art you’re seeing here may or may not be the official art used for the soundtrack. No one knows for sure at this point. Personally, I love the chalked Batman symbol; it symbolizes a Gotham City desperate for their crusader, the hero they’ve come to know and understand over time.
You can pre-order the soundtrack over at Amazon.
