Avengers Assemble!

By now we’ve all seen Marvel’s The Avengers at least a dozen times. But wouldn’t you like to see it on the big screen just one more time before September 25th when it’s released on DVD and Blu-ray (both still available for pre-order on Amazon)? Well, you’re in luck, as the most successful superhero movie of all time is getting a limited theatrical re-release this Labor Day weekend. According to The Avengers‘s Facebook page (where the image above was posted), the film will be back in theaters from August 31st to September 6th. The Disney/Marvel blockbuster is currently the third highest grossing domestic film of all time, and only needs $40 million to tie Titanic‘s $658 million.

The Avengers‘s Facebook page also advises everyone, “Don’t forget to stay through the credits…” possibly teasing that there may be an extra scene tied to the end of the film. Those who have seen the film before (and if you haven’t, you should probably stop here) know that midway through the credits we are introduced to the Marvel Universe baddie, Thanos, and at the end of the credits is the scene responsible for the boost in shawarma sales around the world. But could the re-release show us something different? Could it be something from Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, or perhaps even Guardians of the Galaxy? We’ll just have to wait and see.

‘The Avengers’ Deleted Scene

S.H.I.E.L.D.

Speaking of The Avengers, director Joss Whedon‘s newest television project created to tie in with the Marvel movie universe is ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ ABC has ordered a pilot for the series, which Whedon will co-write and mostly likely direct. Given the cult following of his previous television series (Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel), and the recent box-office success of The Avengers, I think it would be safe to assume that ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ is going to be a hit. I only have one request… please, please, please bring back Agent Coulson!

Batman Rebooted

Batman is not pleased.

Now for a subject near and dear to my heart: Batman. If you don’t want me spoiling The Dark Knight Rises, just skip this paragraph. Batman on Film has shared a rumor that Batman will be rebooted for Justice League, and have his own stand-alone film after. If that’s the case, then Warner Bros. Is making a big mistake. At the end of The Dark Knight Rises, director Christopher Nolan wrapped up the trilogy with a nice pretty bow and gave Warner Bros. a new Batman in the form of Joseph Gordon-Levitt. So why break what isn’t fixed? If Warner Bros. is smart, they would use JGL as the Batman for Justice League and keep him for more Batman films in the future.

What Do You Think?

Will you be going to see The Avengers again this week? Do you think there will be an extra scene at the end? Should Warner Bros. reboot Batman or just leave well enough alone? As always, let us know what you think in the comments below.
