Comedy Duo Tina Fey & Amy Poehler to Host Golden Globes!

Fans of both comedy and improv are cheering loudly today as it was announced last night that BFFs and collaborators Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have been chosen to host the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards on NBC in January.

The show will reunite the ladies on stage once again, as their friendship spans back to the days of their performances with the Second City Improv Troupe in Chicago. Since then, it’s been a match made in heaven.

Move Over Ricky Gervais!

After a two year run, Ricky Gervais won’t make a dash for third base as the ladies of comedy stop him in his tracks!

Fey and Poehler have worked together on numerous projects but their professional relationship began back in 2001, when Poehler joined the cast of Saturday Night Live. At that time, Fey was a lead writer at SNL and had just begun to make appearances in several sketches.

In Fey’s widely acclaimed best-selling novel, “Bossypants,” she commented on Poehler’s fiery drive to rise above the bar her heavily male dominated cast may have set for her: “Amy made it clear that she wasn’t there to be cute. She wasn’t there to play wives and girlfriends in the boys’ scenes. She was there to do what she wanted to do and she did not [bleeping] care if you like it.”

As the two supported each other on SNL, they also created a presence in film. Poehler played Mrs. George, the inappropriate mother with the rock hard tits in Mean Girls, which was penned by Fey. And in 2008, they both starred opposite of one another in the hilarious film Baby Mama.

This will be the first time that a pair of women have hosted the Globes. There’s no denying it, the two have mastered their chemistry, reading each other like an old husband and wife.

What Do You Guys Think?

We’re excited about the team up, but what do you guys think? Did the Golden Globes make the right decision? If not who would you have rather seen as host? Let us know in the comment box below.
