After what would be three weeks at the top of the box office, The Lion King, finally looses the crown.

This week Warner Bros. Dolphin Tale took the top spot with only $14.3 million, rounding out its 10 day box office gross to $37 million. The film had a slight decrease of 25.6 percent from the movie’s opening weekend, but word of mouth kept this film afloat for another weekend.

Money Ball starring Brad Pitt stayed in second place  with $12.5 million. The film took a 39 percent drop from last weekend. To date the film’s raked in a little over &38 million.

In third place, sits The Lion King. After holding the crown for an impressive two weeks, The Lion King 3D takes a drop of 49.6 percent from its second weekend. In its third weekend the King pulled in $11 million, which gives the film a combined total of $79 million since its re-release.

The film was only advertised to be in theaters for two weeks, however, many theaters have yet to remove it from the rosters. The Lion King on Blue-ray will hit theaters this Tuesday.

Summit Entertainment’s critically acclaimed film, 50/50 starring Joseph Gordon Levitt, Seth Rogen and Anna Kendrick opened with $8.86 million in only 2,458 theaters. The film tells the story of how one young man tries to beat cancer.

TriStar’s Courageous opened at fifth place with $8.8 million in 1,161 theaters. The film, starring Alex Kendrick, Ken Bevel and Kevin Downes, tells the story of four police officers struggling to keep their families together after tragedy hits.
