Earlier we all received the oh so heart breaking news that Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are getting a divorce. After 5 years of marriage, couch jumping, scientology and who knows what else, the actress has decided to pack up her belongings and leave. Or maybe Tom Cruise was the one who had to leave. Either way, Miss Holmes is now a free woman. I can only imagine what rules and laws she was forced to abide by during the marriage. Looking back on the whole relationship, she probably made the right move. His career continued to flourish, while Katie was snatched out of Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise. Ask anyone on the street what Katie’s last film was and they’ll tell you Batman Begins, which is false; she’s had several roles in a couple TV mini-series… Now she can focus on her daughter, Suri, and get back to acting. We’ve missed you, Katie!

5. Katie Holmes Saw ‘Rock of Ages’

If you haven’t seen Rock of Ages, save your money and your time. While Cruise does steal a lot of the spotlight as Stacee Jaxx, I couldn’t help but wonder, “Exactly what does Katie have to say about all these girls drooling over her husband?” Better yet, “Aren’t their laws against this type of sex appeal in the ‘Book of Scientology’?” Rock of Ages might be Cruise’s first film in ten years not to reach $200 million worldwide…. perhaps Cruise is loosing some of box office appeal. That may not be true, his light is shinning stronger than ever; the actor will star in the Van Helsing reboot, Mission: Impossible 5, Top Gun 2, Oblivion, and Jack Reacher.

 4. Katie Never Got Over the Whole Couch Situation

On May 23rd, 2005 Tom Cruise went on Oprah’s talk show and not only confessed his love for Katie Holmes, but did so while jumping on Oprah’s couch, falling over, and laughing hysterically. I think back to that day and wonder… What the hell was going through Oprah’s mind? Nonetheless, the talk show host took it like a champ. 3. Katie is Fed Up with Scientology

Tom Cruise became a follower of Scientology way back in the 1980s, but it wasn’t until Katie Holmes’ conversion from Catholicism to Scientology that the media truly started to pay attention. In all seriousness, this is the main reason people think Katie left Tom. There have been reports and rumors that Katie was forced into converting. You may be asking yourself, “She had to have known about his Scientology beliefs before she said ‘I do’, so why the big fuss now?” Well that’s what reporters are trying to figure out. Was Scientology really the reason for the split? Who knows…
