The world loves zombies. Just look on television: The Walking Dead, Shaun of the Dead, Dead Set. Recent zombie films include Zombieland, 28 Days Later, Quarantine, and I Am Legend. Let’s not forget the upcoming Brad Pitt film, World War Z, which features a ton of zombies.
Sure you have your vampires, mummies and serial killers with masks, but Zombies are pretty freaky. Plus, there’s no chance in hell you can turn a zombie into a pretty boy with diamond encrusted skin (vampire and werewolf fans, I’m sorry that Stephenie Meyer ruined your beloved monsters with The Twilight Saga).
From the infected, vomit-spitting zombies to the walking, rotted-corpse zombies, there’s no limits as to what these creature can do. Over the years writers and directors have transformed the original, moaning, slow-walking zombie into a sort of hybrid. Forget walking, zombies have the ability to run and they come with weapons.
Our friends over at The Music Initiative, editor Oliver Wentworth & writer Taylor Wentworth, put together a list of “The Top 13 Zombies.” These guys went all out and searched for only the best zombies of cinema and pop culture. They went through hundreds of different videos, films and television shows to bring you the most grotesque zombies of them all. Zombie fans, you won’t be disappointed.
Be sure to give our friends Oliver & Taylor mad lovin’ by subscribing to their Youtube channel — Olijwent. If this is a sign of what’s to come from these two, I’m in!
By the way, those of you who were in college & high school two years ago, remember the craze over the game Zombie Vs. Humans? People chased each other around campus with nerf guns and bandanas… yeah, it just goes to show the love for zombies is still going strong.
