A new trailer for Marvel’s The Avengers hit the net this morning. Directed by Joss Whedon The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Finally we get a good view of the scale of action Whedon’s bringing to the movie. The second trailer does a better job showcasing the heroes actually fighting as a team, and the addition of the “Hulk Smash” is perfect. Hopefully, The Avengers can give the Hulk a better sense of character than 2003′s Hulk, starring Eric Bana and 2008′s The Incredible Hulk, starring Eric Norton.
I believe this trailer was Marvel’s big hit to prove to fanboys that the movie WILL have a grand sense of scale. While the action seems spot on, I am a little concerned about how much focus is put on the bickering between heroes. There is also a bit of Transformer-ish action going on at the end there. Also, I can’t help but think Scarlett Johansson looks a little out of place next to the other A-list superheroes. But I, along with many other comic book fans, will be sprinting to theaters come May 4th. What were your thoughts on the trailer? Leave a comment!
