Who isn’t excited about this news, just about anything Pixar touches is going to be gold. And now after several years of waiting it is confirmed that our favorite monsters will be back in a prequel, not a sequel, titled Monsters University. Billy Crystal, who voiced the role of Mike, and John Goodman, who voiced the blue furry monster, Sully, will return to lend their talented voices once again. Here’s what Disney’s executive vice president of distribution, Dave Hollis, had to say about the film:
“The film is a prequel that tells you a little bit about how [Mike and Sully] first met, attending Monsters University,” Dave Hollis, Disney’s executive vice president of worldwide distribution, said.
“Obviously everybody knows at this point Mike and Sully are amazing friends – the best of friends – but as it turns out, in this story, that wasn’t always the case. From the moment they met at university, they could not stand each other. This story takes you through the ups and downs, and how they overcame their own differences,” he added.
Disney’s Monster’s University has a release date set for 2012.
Does this news cheer you up? How do you like the idea of a prequel instead of a sequel?
