Pixar Releases New Trailer for ‘Brave’

Could Pixar possibly have a new money spawning franchise on their hands? The studio released a brand new trailer for their upcoming animated film, Brave. Move over, there’s a new red head in town who goes by the name of Princess Merida. She’s feisty, bold and brave.

As far as concept goes, Pixar isn’t treading any new waters. The powerful female character has been taken on a million times before, but it’s the character’s innocence that could win audiences over from the get go. She isn’t necessarily the prettiest female character we’ve seen in the past 20 years, but she’s got a lot of heart.

Pixar’s films have all ways been visually stunning, but with Brave the studio seems to be stepping into new territory. Everything looks much more vibrant and alive than in previous Pixar films. Lets hope that Brave dips into the box office numbers of Toy Story and Up and stays away from the numbers of Cars.

Synopsis for Brave:

Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida (Kelly Macdonald ofBoardwalk Empire fame) is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).

Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, Brave hits theaters June 22, 2012.
