For months it’s been speculated that Orlando Bloom would return as his Lord of the Rings elf character, Legolas Greenleaf. Before Bloom would only hint at his involvement with the film, never really confirming anything. Today, the man himself, Peter Jackson, confirmed Bloom’s return as Legolas via Jackson’s Facebook Page. Looks like we’ll get to see him and the elf ears once more.
Here’ s what Jackson had to say:
Ten years ago, Orlando Bloom created an iconic character with his portrayal of Legolas. I’m excited to announce today that we’ll be revisiting Middle Earth with him once more. I’m thrilled to be working with Orlando again. Funny thing is, I look older—and he doesn’t! I guess that’s why he makes such a wonderful elf.
10 years ago!? It’s crazy to think that it’s been that long since Lord of the Rings first hit theaters. Now there’s no word as of yet about how much screen time Bloom will receive, but what does that matter? We’re just happy to see Bloom’s involvement in Jackson’s Hobbit film.
The Hobbit stars Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood, Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Ken Stott, Graham McTavish, William Kircher, James Nesbitt, Stephen Hunter, Rob Kazinsky, Aidan Turner, Peter Hamleton, and John Callen.
This film hits theaters November 2012.
