Known as The Garden State, New Jersey is home of some of the greats: Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, and Bon Jovi, to name a few. And now The Dark Knight Rises wants a piece of the land that breeds pure talent.
Filming for Nolan’s Dark Knight franchise has taken place all around the world. They’ve had camera crews in India, Chicago, and Pittsburgh. Rumor has it that Christopher Nolan wants a piece of Newark, New Jersey in his film. Here’s what Cory Booker, the Mayor of Newark tweeted:
“Met with the producer and studio team for the next Batman Movie,” he wrote, ”Great people! They hope to film scenes in Nwk. Holy Brick City Batman! POW!”
Well, someone’s excited! Must have been a hardcore fan boy back in the day. Who am I kidding? If Batman was filming in my city, I’d be bouncing off the walls as well. Hell, I’d probably try to find a way behind the scenes. The mayor also joked that he was interested in doing a cameo as Nightwing! I’m loving this guy more by the minute!
“They just smiled politely & looked at their watches,” he added.
Fantastic! I wish my mayor was this exciting. Newark, New Jersey… it has a different feel to it than Chicago or Pittsburgh, but it’s still has a “Gotham City” look: gritty, dark in certain places, and great architecture–all the elements of a “modern day Gotham City” in one package.
Directed by Christopher Nolan, The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Nestor Carbonell, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, and Josh Pence. This film hits theaters July 20th, 2012.
