Disney’s ‘John Carter’ Starring Taylor Kitsch

There hasn’t been much promotion for Disney’s latest action hero, ‘John Carter’ played by Taylor Kitsch (X-men Orgins: Wolverine). In fact, I forgot about this film completely, that is until a new wave of pictures surfaced online the other day.

The story is adapted from the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel “A Princess of Mars”, and is directed by Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, Wall-E) of Pixar. Since most of his films have been huge box office chart toppers, lets hope and pray that John Carter follows suite.

In John Carter, Kitsch plays a Confederate soldier who is transported to Mars and thrown into the planet’s own civil war. Joining Kitsch in this epic adventure is Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Daryl Sabara, Polly Walker, Bryan Cranston, Thomas Hayden Church, and Willem Dafoe.

In short this film reminds me of Star Wars (because of the odd creatures) and Disney’s latest disappointment, Prince of Persia. If the film takes after the later, it’s pretty much doomed. If Disney doesn’t put the promotion into high gear the movie could be another flop for the studio, but nobody wants that… Right?
