New International Trailer for ‘Bullet to the Head’: Revenge Never Gets Old

A new international trailer for Walter Hill’s action film Bullet to the Head, based off Alexis Nolent’s graphic novel Du Plomb Dans La Tete,  shows a bit of a different angle from the first official trailer released about a month ago. Sylvester Stallone plays Jimmy Bobo, a New Orleans hit man teaming up with a NYC Detective Taylow Kwan (Sung Kang) in a high-stakes investigation. While it originally seems that Bobo is interested in getting revenge against Keegan (Jason Momoa), the man who killed his partner, things take a radical turn when Keegan fights back by capturing Bobo’s daughter Lisa (Sarah Shahi).

A Stallone Formula

In comparison to the old trailer, this one gives a bit more insight into the actual plot and style of the film. As with any Stallone film, a certain amount of “punch” lines should be expected- both the cheesy one-liners and some physical punches. But even with the new set of information from the trailer, Bullet to the Head doesn’t look particularly innovative. A lot of the scenes look like they could come from nearly any action film, minus the epic New Orleans labyrinth. The plot of a mismatched police duo has sort of been beaten to death, and searching for his daughter is reminiscent of Taken. Fortunately Christian Slater is involved in the film in some way, which may add some zaniness.

The Movie Makers

The script is written by Italian writer and film producer Alessandro Camon, best known for his work on the 2009 war drama The Messenger. The production team previously produced I Am Number Four, which will hopefully give them an edge for what should be a fast-paced, revenge-y film.

Set to release in theaters February 1st, 2013, I’m not so sure this film will be your Valentine’s Day date, but it might be on the list of things to see for one of you.
