Japanese ‘Avengers’ Trailer: More Hawkeye, Aliens & Surprise Cameo!

This morning, Marvel Entertainment released a full length Japanese trailer for Joss Whedon’s The Avengers. The brand new trailer has more to offer than the Japanese narration and subtitles (surprisingly, the voices were not dubbed); fans are in for a complete treat as the trailer offers more action, a closer look at the “aliens”, a lot more Hawkeye and one surprise cameo from a very familiar character. Buckle up, ’cause you’re in for one great ride.

The international trailer basically follows the same formula as the previous trailers — superheros being called to work and save humanity together despite their personal differences. What’s changed in the formula is the sequence of events and the footage. In the trailer’s opening we get a very blurry look at the extraterrestrial creatures appearing out of a “black hole” of sorts, establishing that the world is being invaded by aliens. Director Whedon has confirmed that these invaders are neither armies of Skull from Captain America or Kree. So all of you hopefuls can scratch that idea.

On the plus side, several characters that have taken the back seat in previous trailers get a bit more love in this one. For starters we get more footage of Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), doing much more than falling from a building and being in cohorts with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). There’s also more footage of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), which presents his overall goal of unity and saving the world. The placement of the dialogue is just about perfect and the last line Fury speaks ties up the entire film. Lets not forget the somewhat shocking and refreshing cameo. I’m not going to spoil it for you guys, but just take a look for yourselves and you’ll at least smile a bit.

While fans didn’t need anymore convincing to go out and see the film, some bystanders may have, still unconvinced that the story actually has heart and meaning. This trailer has it all. Lets not forget the sweet Avenger aircraft that Black Widow and Hawkeye flies around the city! Check out the trailer below and be sure to drop some comments.

Directed by Joss Whedon, The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson. This film hits theaters May 4, 2012.
