You can slam The Twilight Saga for a lot of stuff — cheesy writing, awkward moments, laughable CGI — but you can’t claim that the plot lacks character development, especially since meek and indecisive Bella Swan can be seen tackling a mountain lion in the latest trailer. How much more character development could you possibly want?!
Two nights ago we received the first glimpse at the beginning of the end for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. Summit Entertainment teased fans with a 90 second preview at MTV’s Video Music Awards. Just about the entire cast was there to present the new footage… well, everyone except for Kristen Stewart that is. Robert Pattinson was left to do the honors without Stewart by his side. It didn’t help any that only an hour before, host and comedian Kevin Hart addressed the big elephant in the room, but commended Stewart for apologizing for her mistake.
Are We Watching Mutants or Vampires?
So what’s the difference between this final trailer and the preview we viewed at the VMA’s? Not much really. Summit could’ve released the final trailer at the VMA’s and been done with it, but they decided to milk it for all it’s worth. There’s some new shots, a better glimpse at the many different covens, and a history of what occurred to those who’ve tried to cross the Volturi.
Due to the display of each coven’s many powers the footage looks detached from the rest of the saga. Sure we’ve seen sparkling vampires jumping and running at lightening speed. But the plot crossed into mutant territory, which may come off as a last ditch effort to keep people interested. Bill Condon will be praised if he can end this franchise a somewhat respectable note. Anything less and the fans could convince Hollywood of a reboot. Whether you’re a hater or a Twi-hard, you must admit that kick at the end was pretty bad ass. Check out the trailer below!
Stay tuned for all the latest from the last chapter of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2. This film hits theaters November 16th, 2012.
