As June 1st quickly approaches, the world has received more TV spots and interviews from the crew and cast of Snow White and the Huntsman. Most recently, director Rupert Sanders gave MTV the latest look into the film advertised as, “This is no fairytale”.
The never before seen footage features a somewhat angered Kristen Stewart as she finds herself backed by her comrades but up against, Charlize Theron’s Queen Ravenna, the one woman who desires her heart for the sake of beauty and everlasting life. In the clip, the queen distracts the knights lead by Chis Hemsworth‘s Huntsman — together, they must duke it out with what appears to be men of metal shards or glass. As they become occupied with saving their own lives, Queen Ravenna takes a moment to provoke Snow White with the death and lack of courage from her father. Unable to take any more, Kristen Stewart attacks.
I want to believe that Kristen Stewart has the ability to prove people wrong — her acting talents go beyond what she’s displayed in The Twilight Saga. Unfortunately, in this clip, I’m not seeing a strong-willed woman looking to avenge her father’s death. Instead, I’m seeing Bella Swan trying her hardest to muster up some courage. Also I couldn’t help but laugh when she yelled and prepared herself for the kill. It all looks a bit… forced and unnatural.
Now I’m starting to wonder, has Twilight tainted her image? Or do you think it’ll just take a while for people to stop seeing her as Bella Swan. Whatever the case may be, hearing the critic’s thoughts on Stewart’s performance will be interesting. Directed by Rupert Sanders, Snow White and the Huntsman slams into theaters June 1st.
