That’s right people, Channing Tatum (GI Joe, Step Up, Dear John) will now star in a movie based on his life experiences as a male stripper—that is before he made it big as an actor. Hey, we all have to start off somehow right? Tatum just decided to be a male stripper; I’m sure he pleased a lot of ladies along the way, and also walked away with a movie deal. Pretty sweet if you ask me. Here’s more from The Movie Banter:

I’m sure most of you are aware of Channing Tatum’s “interesting” past. For those of you not in the know, Channing Tatum aka Chan Crawford, long before his days as an action hero was earning a living as an exotic dancer in a Chippendale-styled variety show in 1999. Eventually his past came out but it never seemed to really hurt his career in any way and now it appears its even going to further his career.

News has recently broke that director Steven Soderbergh, the man behind the ‘Ocean’s Eleven –Thirteen’ films, has been inspired by Tatum’s past for his next film. He released a statement saying, “When Channing talked to me about this, I thought it was one of the best ideas I’d ever heard for a movie. I said I wanted in immediately. It’s sexy, funny and shocking. We’re using ‘Saturday Night Fever’ as our model, so hopefully we’re on the right track.”

“I want to star in my very own stripper film,” says the man who also wants to star in an upcoming Peter Pan film. OK, I’m sure a lot of people are really excited about this film. I’m interested in seeing the relationship between director Steven Soderbergh (Oceans 11, Sex, Lies, and Videotapes) and Tatum. I’m also intrigued by the story; when’s the last time you’ve seen a film about a straight male stripper? Want to see Tatum in action? Check out the video clip below.

What do you guys think about this film? Do you think it will bomb? Or are you really intrigued?
