This past weekend four new films hit theaters, Your Highness, Soul Surfer, Arthur, and Hanna. However neither one of these films came close to stopping the pooping Easter bunny film, Hop.
The bunny pulled in $21.7 million at the box office this weekend, which brings its total to 68.2 million in just two weekends.
Russell Brand’s other film Arthur came in second with $12.6 million, and not too far behind was the action thriller, Hanna which opened to some strong reviews.
Soul Surfer reeled in an impressive $11.1 million, while Insidious scraped in $9.7 million.
The biggest disappointment for all involved was Your Highness, the period-piece comedy starring James Franco, Danny McBride, and Natalie Portman. The film opened this weekend only pulling in $9.5 million. Shocking? I don’t think so. What I don’t understand is why great film actors choose to part take in really bad films. Some might say “Maybe, Portman and Franco just wanted to have fun after doing all these serious roles.” My response to that is, “Fine, do a couple comedies, but choose something that doesn’t drag your name through the mud.”
Will the bunny be able to hold on to the #1 spot as Easter weekend nears?
