Anne Hathaway Set to Star in Mindy Kaling’s ‘The Low Self-Esteem of Lizzie Gillespie’

There’s No Stopping Mindy Kaling!

Who is Mindy Kaling you ask? If you’re not a fan of The Office, you may not have noticed her as the character Kelly Kapoor. And perhaps you glanced over her  new memoir “Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns),” in the biography section at Barnes & Nobles while reading the back of Snooki’s “A Shore Thing.” But there’s no chance you missed the advertising for her new hit show on Fox, The Mindy Kaling Project, which was just picked up for a full season.

Yes, Kaling’s on a role and she shows no sign of slowing down. In fact, Academy Award nominee Anne Hathaway has joined her next project, The Low Self-Esteem of Lizzie Gillespie.

Penned by Kaling and her co-writer from The Office, this romantic comedy tells the story of a woman who dates a load of losers due to her low self-esteem. But everything turns around for Hathaway’s character as a very attractive hunk is in hot pursuit. The plot puts a slight bend on the often stale genre of romantic comedy. But Kaling has experience in comedy as she actually started out writing for The Office. Hopefully, she can bring some of that raw and honest comedic satire to the feature.

Anne Hathaway Returns to Her Roots

After abandoning the “girl-next-door” image for her much sexier, dangerous, and rugged roles – Les Miserables, The Dark Knight Rises — it appears that Hathaway will indeed return to the track that jumpstarted her career. This year alone she’s certainly proven that she’s got enough talent to play any role thrown at her, but it’s these roles that Hathaway excels in. She’s smart, funny, and a complete bad ass. With Kaling’s recent fame and hilarious efforts and Hathaway’s versatility, this is one combination that I’m looking forward to!

There’s no director attached to the project just yet. Kaling will probably have the final say as to who takes the chair. This gives time for Hathaway to pursue her other projects in the making — Rio 2 and Robopocalypse. And let’s hope that by time filming is ready to roll, “Academy Award Winner” will be attached to Hathaway’s name.
